Am trying to find out more details on the markings on CMP's as used by the RAF in India 1944-1945
The photograph that I have is of my late father standing in front of a CMP with a registration number of 44 in small digits followed by 8522 in larger digits all preceeded by a WD type arrow.
If anybody can shed any more light, or books or other websites, would be most gratefull |

Hmm what's happened to the photos? attempts to download result in "forbidden"? cheers M PS-Mike and crew have put a lot of work into tidying up the unit, which made its public debut this summer 2007. Still lots to go but its great to see an exmaple of this bit of Canadian heritage and history back in Canada. |

Hello! A C15 with winch is rather unusual as winches normally came on gun tractors, or perhaps on a special contract 3-ton GS or some 6wheel versions. I've heard of only one other 15cwt (and a cab 12 at that) with a winch. Still never say never when it comes to WWII military stuff What do the data plates say re model and contract #? The CMP winch consisted of a Ford 3-Ton differential with short stub axles to fit between the frame rails and driven off the transfer case. Do you have a photo of your vehicle?

Hello all:
I have successfully negotiated the purchase of a Quad 20mm Polsten. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting Marc Young and his family.
The gun now rests in Bristol awaiting shipping to Canada. I've got a few more days here reducing it to 'shipping' shape and crating the accessories.
Counting the example at the Canadian War Museum this will be only the second one in Canada. Expect to see it on the show circuit next summer!
Cheers! Mike |

Hello all:
I have just joined this forum and am looking forward to many interesting discussions on CMP and other Canadian made military vehicles, weapons and equipment.
I am an Instructor-in-Gunnery in the Royal Regiment of Canadian Artillery with 30 years of service so far. I am the President of the Swords and Ploughshares Museum located in Kars, Ontario just south of Ottawa (www.calnan.com/swords). My particular interest is artillery pieces and the vehicles that tow them.
In my spare time I am a volunteer firefighter in my town and I teach scuba diving so that people don't think my collecting hobby is too weird!
Cheers! |
