Am trying to find out more details on the markings on CMP's as used by the RAF in India 1944-1945

The photograph that I have is of my late father standing in front of a CMP with a registration number of 44 in small digits followed by 8522 in larger digits all preceeded by a WD type arrow.

If anybody can shed any more light, or books or other websites, would be most gratefull
